Freedom of Information Act 2000
Gives information about the right of access to see copies of information held by 'public authorities' (e.g. Local Authority/Council, The Police, or Publicly Owned Company, etc) and gives information on how to access such information under the act.
Gives rights of a general nature detailing access to different types of recorded information which is held/stored by public authorities. The rights are subject to specific exemptions which will need individual considerations with the balance regarding the 'public interest'.Includes penalties/procedure where a public authority may fail to uphold a request.
