Environment Act 2005
Amends Noise Act, 96 where applicable. Came into force in April 2006 and introduces various and important amendments to the Environmental Protection Act, 1990 (e.g. stricter enforcement of waste and litter deposits that are illegal and the need to promote a cleaner environment).
Also covers other areas such as the removal of 'shopping trolleys' by a Local Authority, 'statutory nuisances' when emitting artificial lights in a manner that harms health or causes nuisance, offences of dropping litter on open land, fly-tipping penalties are increased, etc. Stipulates measures of maximum fines that can be imposed.
