Criminal Justice & Police Act 2001

The Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 covers specific areas such as 'intimidation of witnesses', 'Harming Witnesses', taking fingerprints', etc and details of offences leading to penalties on the spot. Covers areas such as 'Alcohol Consumption in Designated Public Places' and is a key provision in tackling any alcohol related disorder.

The act also gives a Local Authority the power to stipulate ('designate') an area of public space in which it would be an offence to consume any alcohol after being required not to by a Police Officer.

Individuals/groups in these stipulated areas must also surrender any alcohol to the Police for their disposal. Local Authorities must demonstrate, before designating such areas, that they have previously been associated with examples of alcohol consumption.
